Kathmandu, Feb. 22 -- A total of 108 women are contesting for 33 directly elected seats in the House of Representatives from Bagmati Province in the upcoming polls scheduled for March 5.

Hari Dhakal, election officer at the Bagmati Provincial Election Office, said that 731 candidates in total are competing across 13 districts of the province.

Kathmandu district has fielded the highest number of female candidates. Across its 10 constituencies, 250 candidates are in the fray, including 46 women.

Chitwan follows Kathmandu in terms of female participation. In the three constituencies of Chitwan, 64 candidates are contesting, of whom 18 are women.

In Bhaktapur, which has two constituencies, nine women are competing among 57 candidates. Lal...
