Kathmandu, Oct. 29 -- A Nepali Army rescue team from the New Bhairabidal Battalion in Manang rescued over 1,500 people, including 200 foreigners, stranded due to heavy snowfall.
The operation was carried out in coordination with local authorities, the Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and residents, the Nepali Army said.
The snowfall began on Monday and affected several areas, including Tilicho, Khangsar, Pisang, Upper Manang, and Humde.
The snowfall comes amid an ongoing period of extreme weather in Nepal. Meteorologists have warned that very heavy rainfall, similar to that during the Dashain festival in early October, could occur again from Thursday, with Koshi and Madhesh provinces likely to be hit hardest.
