SRINAGAR, April 17 -- Widespread rains lashed several parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours with the tourist resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir receiving the highest rainfall, Meteorological Department said on Thursday.

MeT said that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience isolated light rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph over the next 24 hours.

They said the weather conditions are expected to turn more active in the subsequent two days, with fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rain or thundershowers anticipated across J&K.

Moderate to heavy rain is also likely at a few places on April 18 and 19, along with thunder and gusty winds starting from the evening of April 18...
