JAMMU, Sept. 27 -- The Jal Shakti (I&FC) Department Jammu, today released water in the Main Ranbir Canal after its temporary restoration. The recent major flood events in Kathua and Jammu districts had caused extensive damage to the irrigation canal infrastructure, including breach of embankments, siltation and choking of syphons, etc. at Main Ranbir Canal, Kathua Canal, besides Main Tawi Canal & Main Ravi Canal of RTIC Department. This had raised significant concerns among the agricultural community about timely availability of irrigation water to the standing kharif crops.
