Udhampur, May 18 -- In a determined crackdown against illegal bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police successfully rescued 16 bovines in two separate incidents and arrested one individual.

The operations were carried out under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur.

In the first incident, a police team intercepted a truck (JK20B-1006) at Jakhani on the National Highway (NHW). Upon inspection, 10 bovines were found tied in a cruel manner and being transported without valid permission.

While the animals were safely rescued, the driver managed to flee the scene. A case has been registered under FIR No. 175/2025 U/S 223(a) BNS and 11 PCA Act at PS Udhampur.
