SAMBA, Dec. 11 -- Rural Traffic Police conducted a special checking drive near Mansar and challaned 27 vehicles for violating various traffic norms, imposing a cumulative fine of ?49,800. In addition, two vehicles using pressure horns were challaned, and one out-of-state Maruti van was seized on the spot.

Officials informed that the drive was carried out under the directions of SSP Rural Farooq Qaiser and the overall supervision of DySP Traffic Samba-Kathua Range Sukhdev Singh. A team led by Sub-Inspector Kartar Nath established a naka near Mansar, during which around 100 vehicles were checked. During the inspection, 27 were found violating different traffic rules.
