JAMMU, March 12 -- Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta has welcomed the Centre's decision to ban the Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) for five years under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Calling it a bold and necessary step, he said the ban reflects the Central Government's firm resolve to uproot terrorism and separatist activities from Jammu and Kashmir.
He was speaking while chairing a meeting with senior leaders at the Party Headquarters in Jammu.
