SAMBA, May 1 -- To promote awareness about traffic rules and emphasize the importance of road safety among the youth, a road safety awareness programme was organized today at Bhargava Higher Secondary School, Samba. The event was led by G.L. Sharma, JKPS, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, who interacted with students and staff, highlighting alarming statistics related to traffic accidents. He informed the gathering that India records an average of over 1.60 lakh deaths annually due to road accidents, with 1.72 lakh fatalities reported in 2023 alone.
