Budgam, Nov. 9 -- Authorities in Budgam on Sunday imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in view of the upcoming by-elections for the 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency scheduled on November 11.
According to an order issued by District Magistrate Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat (IAS) , the restrictions will remain in force from 6:00 PM on November 9 to 6:00 PM on November 11, coinciding with the 48-hour silence period mandated before polling.
The order states that no public meetings, rallies, processions, musical events, or any form of election campaigning will be allowed during this period, as per provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The DM said the measures were essential to ...
