A group of people from Mattan area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district Tuesday demanded complete desilting of famous Chaka Nadi and urged district administration to remove illgal encroachments for its complete restoration.
"Chaka Nadi, that originates from famous Martand temple Spring, has been encroached by influential people at various spots from Mattan to Sarnal Anantnag while as the Irrigation department too has failed to maintenance canal," residents told Early Times.
They urged irrigation department to remove the silt from the canal and restore it," they said, adding Irrigration Department was desilting other minor canals but ironically continue to ignore their repeated pleas.
