Jammu, Sept. 24 -- Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, on Wednesday urged people to remain calm and maintain peace. In a statement, Gupta said forces deployed in the town carried only lathis to manage the situation after a bandh call was given by certain organizations. "After joining the hunger strike venue, some miscreants, without provocation, started pelting stones at the forces deployed to maintain peace," he said.
"With a dangerous game plan, they attacked a CRPF vehicle while personnel were inside and even attempted to set it on fire to burn the jawans alive," the LG alleged. He further disclosed that the vehicle of the Director General of Police (DGP) was also attacked with heavy stones and rods.
