Jammu, June 3 -- Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department was all set to install two lakh smart meters in both the regions from the month of July, Principal Secretary Power Development Department, Rohit Kansal said on Wednesday.
He has urged the Distribution Companies (DISCOMS) viz. JPDCL and KPDCL to take advantage of the Special Economic and Comprehensive Package for them provided under the Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan.
The scheme provides for liquidity infusion of Rs 90,000 cr to DISCOMs for discharging liabilities of DISCOMs towards power generating companies and to tide over the financial crises arising due to Covid-19.
