The new rates will be effective from July 1, 2024, and mark a hike from the previous rate of 50%.
The decision, outlined in two official orders issued by the Finance Department, fulfills a long-standing demand of employees and pensioners. Under the revised pay structure based on the 7th Pay Commission, "Basic Pay" refers to the salary drawn in the prescribed Pay Matrix level, excluding special pay and other allowances.
