RAJOURI, Feb. 5 -- In a strong commitment to public health, the Indian Army organized a series of awareness campaigns and expert lectures on World Cancer Day, reaching thousands of locals in remote and border areas of Jammu & Kashmir. These initiatives focused on early detection, prevention and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The events spanned multiple locations, including villages along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri sectors, schools and community centres. Activities included interactive lectures by medical officers on cancer symptoms, screening methods, tobacco cessation and nutrition. Over 5,000 civilians, including women, youth and elders benefitted, alongside ex-servicemen and their families.
