JAMMU, Feb. 13 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has confirmed that Qazigund, widely known as the "Gateway of Kashmir," is being developed on modern and sustainable lines, with several infrastructure and urban planning initiatives underway.

Responding to a question in the Assembly raised by MLA Abdul Majeed Bhat, the government said the town's strategic location at the southern entry point of the Kashmir Valley and its role as a major road and rail transit hub make it a priority for planned development.
