NOWSHERA, Feb. 23 -- The fruitful results of 3-day workshop organized by Department of Botany on "Cultivation Technology of Oyster mushroom (Dhingari)" were reaped as the college harvested the first crop of mushrooms, here today. The spawned bags were incubated in a pre-fumigated room on January 18, 2021. The bags got covered with a cottony growth of mycelium followed by the formation of pinheads (mushroom primordia) which got matured in about a week's time. The matured mushrooms were harvested today and the first crop weighed about 250gms. Dr. Surinder Kumar, college Principal purchased the freshly harvested crop for Rs. 50.
