UDHAMPUR, July 9 -- Defying the odds and driven by devotion, Harnam Prasad has been walking for 105 days, covering about 1,700 km from Jabalpur on his way to the Amarnath cave shrine in what is a most unusual Kanwar Yatra.
The 21-year-old is now in Udhampur for the last lap of his spiritual odyssey, all through which he has carried four pitchers of holy water from the Gawri Ghat in Jabalpur to offer at the high altitude shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Supported by three friends, Prasad carries water in four pitchers on his shoulders along with Bajrangbali flags and claims this is his first Kanwar Yatra to the Himalayan cave shrine, traditionally known for the ice 'lingam' of Lord Shiva.
