Jammu, Jan. 4 -- The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday appointed 1996-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Mukesh Singh as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Mukesh Singh, who was serving with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and posted at its headquarters in New Delhi, is expected to assume charge of the post shortly.

According to the official order, 1995-batch IPS officer and incumbent Ladakh Police chief S.D. Singh Jamwal has been transferred and appointed as the Director General of Police of Arunachal Pradesh.
