JAMMU, Sept. 26 -- The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Thursday disposed of a five-year-old public interest litigation (PIL) that sought modernization of cremation grounds across Jammu, including the Jogi Gate cremation ground.
The petition had been filed in 2020 by Sumit Nayyar, a practicing lawyer, who urged the court to direct authorities to improve infrastructure and facilities at cremation sites. Over the years, the court monitored the matter closely, directing the government to submit status reports and progress affidavits.
