Ramban, July 27 -- Initially raised as Crown Representative Police on 27 July 1939, and rechristened as Central Reserve Police Force, during December 1949, CRPF is the largest Central Armed Police Force of the Union of India. With nearly 250 Battalions, CRPF is deployed across the length and breadth of the Country, in all conflict theatres, viz, North East, J&K, Punjab, LWE states, and engaged in Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency, Anti Naxal Operations, VVIP security, L&O, Anti-Riot, Election Duties, etc, wherever the Nation called for its services.
