JAMMU, Aug. 4 -- The Special Court for NDPS Cases in Jammu YP Sharma has rejected the bail applications of Garv Bhambri and Mamta Kansal, accused in an alleged drug trafficking racket involving codeine-based cough syrup (Cocrex). The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized commercial quantities of codeine phosphate and Rs 15.03 lakh in cash, reportedly linked to M/s N.K. Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., with Bhambri as license holder and Kansal as GST filer. Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Singh Manhas opposed the bail, citing the accused's role in a larger conspiracy involving diversion of controlled substances without valid prescriptions.
