Jammu, July 25 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) is poised to conduct byelections for the Nagrota and Budgam assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, potentially aligning them with the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for October or November 2025.
The special summary revision of electoral rolls for both constituencies has been completed, with the final electoral rolls published recently, paving the way for the electoral process.
The Nagrota seat fell vacant on October 31, 2024, following the demise of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Devinder Singh Rana. Meanwhile, the Budgam seat was vacated on October 21, 2024, by Omar Abdullah, who chose to retain another constituency.
