KATHUA, Nov. 25 -- A four-day cricket tournament aimed at promoting sports among youth and preventing drug abuse began today at the Government Degree College (GDC) Bani ground. The event is being organized by Bharat Sports Club with the support of the Indian Army and the National Hydro Project Corporation (NHPC), Seva Second Power Station, Machhakka.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Principal GDC Bani, and Surinder Raina, Station House Officer (SHO) Bani. In their inaugural address, the chief guests highlighted that sports activities in remote hilly regions not only provide a platform for young talent but also play an essential role in keeping them away from drugs.
