Jammu, Sept. 7 -- In a tightly fought electoral contest that underscored the vibrancy of grassroots democracy among transport workers, Ashwani Singh Joni Chib was elected president of the Tata Magic Maxi Cab Association for the Kunjwani-Sidhra via Narwal route. He clinched the post by a slender margin of 11 votes, defeating his closest rival, Ashok Singh Kala, in an election that drew 81 registered voters from the operator community. Chib secured 46 votes, while Kala put up a strong challenge, reflecting the divided but enthusiastic support base across the route.
