The negligence on part of successive coalition governments as well as Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC) can be gauged from this fact that over a decade ago, the coalition government of PDP-Congress had announced that four check dam would be constructed to irrigate dry land of Kandi belt of Jammu region but unfortunately none of them is completed so far.
Sources in I&FC department informed Early Times that Wajoo Chack-dam, Khokhayal of district Kathua with estimated cost of Rs 25.85 Crores, Check dam on river Tarnah at Pranjali with an estimated cost of 14.37 Crores were announced in 2007-08 and 2008-09.
