Jammu, Feb. 4 -- By raising contentious issues the National Conference Lok Sabha member Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has put his party in a difficult situation.
After taking stand on issues like existing reservation rules, restoration of statehood and Art 370, Mehdi sparked a fresh debate by demanding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's pre-1953 position.
The National Conference had raised this demand in its Autonomy Report which was rejected by the then Central Government headed by late Atal Behari Vajpayee.
In 2000, the BJP-led NDA had outrightly the Greater Autonomy report passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
