There are questions being raised over whether the government will once again made appointment of interlocutor as more than two months have passed since GOI appointed interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma was the new administrator of Lakshadweep on October 25, last year.

On October 23, 2017, the government of India appointed Sharma as a Special Representative. He was tasked to carry forward the dialogue process with all the stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir.
