UDHAMPUR, April 7 -- In a significant breakthrough, police personnel from Police Station Rehambal have arrested a long-time absconder involved in a bovine smuggling case, who had been evading arrest for the last eight years.

The accused, Makhan, son of Yousaf, a resident of Laswara, Bishnah, District Jammu, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 81/2017 registered under Sections 188 IPC and 3 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act. The case had been pending since 2017, and the accused had managed to avoid arrest despite continuous efforts.
