CHHATTISGARH, Feb. 2 -- On 02 Feb 2008, in the Maoist affected state of Chhattisgarh, when a column of 63 Bn CRPF personnel, while falling back after a major operation in the hinterlands of Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh, were ambushed by a strong party of armed Maoists. The CRPF party of 63 Bn retaliated effectively and tactically and an intense encounter ensued. The CRPF team tactically split into two parties and attacked the Maoists' position, forcing the Maoists to flee. Few Maoists were killed and few others sustained injuries.
