India, June 16 -- According to previous research, blood clotting is a major cause of death in COVID-19 patients

Irish scientists have found out how and why novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients develop blood clots. The study was done by Researchers from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland University of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The study found that the balance between the von Willebrand Factor (VWF) and ADAMTS13 is severely disrupted in patients with severe COVID-19 infection. VMF is a protein that causes blood clots and ADAMTS13 is an enzyme that regulates clotting.
