Ghaggar river pollution

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on January 20 directed a committee to take steps on an expeditious basis to look into the deficiencies of sewage treatment plants, use of treated water and waste management to make the Ghaggar river pollution free. The river originates in Himachal Pradesh and ends in Rajasthan. It has turned into a polluted water body on account of discharge of effluents - industrial as well as municipal.
