Coronavirus update: Uttar Pradesh records first death
India, April 1 -- Record 72new cases in Maharashtra yesterday
Uttar Pradesh recorded its first death due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. News channel NDTV reported April 1, 2020 that a 25-year-old man from Basti district, who died on March 30, was carrying the virus (SARS-C0V-2). Authorities are worried he may have infected others in a hospital he was admitted in.
* The world now has nearly 0.86 million cases positive to the novel coronavirus, according to aggregator Worldometer on April 1, 2020.
* Among them, 0.64 million were active cases.
* The proportion od serious or critical cases among the active cases was 5 per cent.
* The death toll was above 42,000.
