There are multiple barriers to implementing carbon capture and storage (CCS), which is touted as a climate change mitigation tool that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

IPCC's Synthesis Report under the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) cycle was released on March 20. The report highlighted some of the barriers are technological, economic, institutional, ecological, environmental and socio-cultural barriers.
