A total of 3,616 projects involving 69,414.32 hectares of forest land have been approved for non-forest use under Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980, in the last five years, said environment minister Prakash Javadekar in the Lok Sabha on March 20, 2020. During the same period, compensatory afforestation (CA) was stipulated over more than 126,000 hectares, said the minister.
