India, March 14 -- In a significant step aimed at enhancing the public transportation network in the capital city, the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the expansion of the Delhi Metro by endorsing two new corridors as part of Phase-IV of the project.

As per an official statement, the two sanctioned corridors, namely the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block and the Inderlok to Indraprastha lines, are anticipated to greatly improve Metro connectivity across various areas of Delhi.

The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 8,399 crore, which will be funded by the Government of India, the Government of Delhi, and international funding agencies.
