India, Sept. 4 -- The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recorded over 221 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions in August 2025, reflecting a 10.3% year-on-year increase compared to August 2024. The surge highlights Aadhaar's expanding role in welfare delivery and voluntary service access, reinforcing its importance in India's growing digital economy.

Face authentication continued to gain traction, with 18.6 crore transactions in August compared to 6.04 crore a year earlier. UIDAI also reported its highest-ever single-day usage on September 1, with more than 1.5 crore transactions. To date, around 213 crore face authentications have been carried out, supported by AI-enabled solutions on Android and iOS platforms.
