India, Dec. 10 -- TRAI has released recommendations on assigning microwave spectrum in multiple bands (6 GHz lower, 7 GHz, 13 GHz, 15 GHz, 18 GHz, 21 GHz), along with E-Band and V-Band for telecom backhaul. The move follows consultations with 24 stakeholders and an online open house.
Key highlights include:
Block-based spectrum allocation for wireless access service providers and point-to-point allocation for other telecom services.
Option for existing operators to retain current spectrum carriers to avoid disruption.
Rationalised charges to reduce spectrum cost—uniform per carrier charges in traditional microwave bands and lower fees recommended for E-Band and V-Band.
