India, July 18 -- Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited and a key player in India's renewable energy sector, has signed its first Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with NHPC Limited.
The agreement, secured under NHPC's BESS Tranche-I tender through a competitive bidding process, is for a 30 MW / 120 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) to be set up at the 220 kV substation in Kerala. The end user of the project will be the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL).
