India, March 10 -- SJVN Ltd, a state-owned company, has signed an initial agreement to develop an 1,800 MW pumped hydro storage project (PSP) at Kotpali in Chhattisgarh, with an investment of Rs 9,500 crore.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between SJVN, the Government of Chhattisgarh, and Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) for the project's development. During its construction phase, the project is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 5,000 people.
Located in the Balrampur district, the Kotpali PSP is an off-stream, closed-loop facility with an installed capacity of 1,800 MW. It is designed to generate approximately 3,967 million units (MU) of energy.
