India, Jan. 27 -- Silver prices surged to a record high in futures trade on Tuesday, while gold also scaled a fresh lifetime peak, supported by strong investor demand amid ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver contracts for March delivery jumped Rs 25,101, or 7.5 per cent, to touch an all-time high of Rs 3,59,800 per kilogram. The white metal had already witnessed a sharp rally last week, gaining Rs 46,937, or 16.3 per cent, to cross the Rs 3 lakh per kg level for the first time.
Meanwhile, gold prices climbed to a new record of Rs 1.59 lakh per 10 grams in futures trade.
