India, Oct. 3 -- The rupee opened weaker on Friday, trading in a narrow range and slipping 5 paise to 88.76 against the US dollar. The decline was attributed to the strength of the greenback in overseas markets and weak cues from domestic equities.

Forex traders noted that global uncertainties, US policy pressures, and trade tensions kept sentiment under check. Additionally, persistent foreign fund outflows and concerns over the US visa fee hike weighed on the local unit.
