India, Oct. 7 -- The rupee declined by 4 paise to close at 88.78 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, pressured by a stronger greenback overseas and persistent foreign fund outflows.

Forex traders said the domestic currency moved in a narrow range as investors stayed cautious amid global trade uncertainties.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened slightly higher at 88.72 against the dollar and touched an intraday low of 88.79 before settling at 88.78, down 4 paise from the previous close.
