India, July 21 -- The rupee weakened by 14 paise to settle at 86.30 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, weighed down by persistent dollar demand from oil importers.

According to forex traders, the rupee's slide continued after breaching the key 86.00 level, with the decline further exacerbated by a firming dollar index.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the domestic currency opened at 86.27, recorded an intraday high of 86.19, and touched a low of 86.36 against the US dollar.
