India, Oct. 13 -- Retail inflation in India eased to 1.54% in September 2025, down from 2.07% in August, driven primarily by subdued prices of food items such as vegetables and pulses, according to government data released on Monday.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation was 5.49% in September 2024.
The National Statistics Office (NSO) attributed the decline in headline and food inflation to a favourable base effect and lower inflation in vegetables, oils & fats, fruits, pulses & products, cereals & products, eggs, and fuel & light.
