India, Dec. 2 -- The Reserve Bank of India on Monday reported that it received an additional Rs 74 crore worth of Rs 2,000 denomination notes at its offices during November.
As a result, the total Rs 2,000 notes still in circulation have further declined to Rs 5,743 crore as of November 29, compared with Rs 5,817 crore on October 31, the central bank said.
The Rs 2,000 notes were originally introduced after the 2016 demonetisation, but the RBI announced their withdrawal from circulation in May 2023.
