India, April 6 -- The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the licence of The Shirpur Merchants' Co-operative Bank due to inadequate capital and lack of viable earning prospects.
The bank will cease all banking operations effective close of business on April 6, 2026.
The Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Maharashtra, has been directed to initiate the bank's winding-up process and appoint a liquidator.
