India, Oct. 10 -- NITI Aayog has released the second working paper under its NITI Tax Policy Working Paper Series–II, titled "Towards India's Tax Transformation: Decriminalisation and Trust-Based Governance." This follows the first paper in the series on enhancing certainty and transparency for foreign investors.

Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog, highlighted that India's tax reforms are entering a decisive phase focused on simplification, modernisation, and trust-based governance. He emphasised the need to shift from enforcement-driven compliance to mechanisms that are proportionate, fair, and transparent, empowering taxpayers while maintaining fiscal integrity.
