India, Feb. 2 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that maintaining a sustained economic growth rate of 7–8 per cent remains the government's foremost priority, as it would generate more jobs and ensure broader benefits for citizens across the country.
Interacting with college students from different regions on Sunday following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026–27, the minister emphasised that strong economic growth is key to inclusive development. She noted that when the economy performs well, its gains naturally reach every section of society through improved opportunities and livelihoods.
