India, May 14 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has commenced its two-week Online Short-Term Internship (OSTI) programme aimed at imparting a comprehensive understanding of human rights protection and promotion in the country. The programme began yesterday, featuring 80 university students selected from 21 States and Union Territories out of a pool of 1,795 applicants representing various academic disciplines.

Addressing the participants, NHRC Secretary General Shri Bharat Lal emphasized the role of youth as torchbearers of India's 5,000-year-old civilisational values rooted in empathy, compassion, and justice.
