India, Oct. 3 -- Following the implementation of the Next-Generation GST Reforms 2025, the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has received 3,981 GST-related complaints, comprising 31% queries and 69% grievances. The Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) is closely monitoring these complaints for timely resolution and clarification.
A large share of grievances arose due to misunderstandings about GST reductions, with consumers seeking price reductions on milk, electronics, LPG, and petrol. CCPA clarified that:
Fresh milk is exempt from GST, and UHT milk is now exempt.
Electronic goods like TVs, ACs, and dishwashers have GST reduced from 28% to 18%; laptops, refrigerators, and washing machines are already at 18%.
